Key Takeaways

Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) served over 53 million passengers in 2023. It’s the second-largest hub for American Airlines after Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW), with the airline operating around 90% of flights in and out of CLT.

Considering the number of passengers CLT serves, it’s quite a compact airport and does not require the need to travel by train or shuttle in between departure areas — all concourses are accessible by walking.

CLT Terminal Map

Charlotte Douglas International Airport consists of 1 main terminal and 6 concourses. The concourses are all past security and within walking distance of each other, so there is no need to take a train or shuttle bus to get to your gate.

The main terminal is the central body of the airport and consists of 3 levels. Level 1 is baggage claim with tunnel access to the car rental center and hourly parking deck adjacent to the terminal.
